Strategies for creating sound agronomics and quality playing conditions
Hand Watering:
The preferred method of irrigating poa/bentgrass greens. It increases control, creates better distribution of water and keeps the surface more firm. This practice is not to be confused with "syringing". Syringing is a mist of water used to cool the plant down during hot stressful periods. Used effectively, it could cool the turf canopy down as much as 20 degrees Fahrenheit on hot days.

Sunlight... Especially Morning Sun
Turf health is directly linked to the environment and microclimate that it is located in. Improving sunlight through strategic tree pruning and removal is a necessity when striving for great playing conditions.
The removal of select limbs and trees can also improve air circulation; reducing disease and pesticide inputs.

Sustainability
With the integration of environmental stewardship, social responsibility and economic viability; we can meet the demands of today's meticulous conditioning without compromising the needs for our future generations.
Reduced maintenance areas and Native Grasslands can add unique aesthetics to a property while minimizing labor, pesticides, fertilizers and water.

Cultural Practices
Aerating is done to develop a well-drained growing condition that will support a vigorous root system. When combined with verticutting and topdressing it promotes a much firmer, consistently smooth surface to play on.

Firm Believer in Firm Conditions
In 1901 Walter Travis wrote, “From May until October each green should be rolled daily with a light roller, rather than once or twice a week with a heavy one”.
University research has proven that Mr. Travis' philosophy on rolling can be quite beneficial to the health of the turf. Studies have shown that frequent rolling can reduce water usage and disease pressure while providing quality playing conditions.
